Vibrations 2014 -- this week

Friends,

After 2 months and probably $100 worth of tracks, thousands of cuts and reworks, I have a special Vibrations 2014 mix worth 106 minutes of your time and just over 20 tracks...IF you enjoyed 2010's May mix, (which I personally dub the best), you'll love this one.

Stay tuned.

Vibrations 2014 May - Drum and Bass

I wanted to introduce a Drum and Bass mix for you. It's been sitting on the shelf and is a great listen. A lot of great transitions. This D&B mix contains a plethora of styles, but mainly progressive D&B. It never extends itself on a theme for too long.

I don't have a tracklist for it. Sorry :(. I promise June will have it. Also June will bring us to our regular programming...

Enjoy.

Kahvi Master Series -- All of the Mixes

So despite taking a brief pause on djing, I haven't (and I'm sorry for not posting) stopped with regards to some Kahvi mixes. I decided to rebrand them all calling them the "Kahvi Master Series". The name is a spinoff from Sasha's Renaissance Master Series, but that's as far as it goes. There's quite a few mixes here (13 in total). I can't provide the tracklist, because I simply do not have them =/.

None the less, the Kahvi Master Series mixes highlight the excellence in Kahvi. It's a perfect introduction to the world of Kahvi music. Each track featured can be downloaded and distributed for free @ www.kahvi.org. I hope you enjoy them. It's about 2GB download :P

The Kahvi Master Series:
Mix 1: Rhapsody (2006)
Mix 2: Parallax (2006)
Mix 3: Midnight Arboretum (2007)
Mix 4: Searching for Planets (2007)
Mix 5: Lightmare (2008)
Mix 6: Walk with Me (2008)
Mix 7: Cup of Kahvi (2008)
Mix 8: xPresso (2012)
Mix 9: Decaf (2012)
Mix 10: Kahvi Del Mar (2013)
Mix 11: Dark Roast (2013)
Mix 12: Light Roast (2013)
Mix 13: Winter Blend (2013)

I take a lot of pride in these mixes. More over any other sets. Each one is unique and there is no duplication of tracks. I never listen to my own mixes -- except these. There's simply nothing like them.

Post if you want a tracklist, I have some not all.

Dj Polaski - The Journey

So in my return I wanted to provide a mix I've been working on for quite some time. it started around 2010 prior to my departure. It's a combination of several styles consisting primarily of Nu Disco (don't fret at the genre), Electronica, Deep House, and House with some hints of chillout and downtempo.

The idea, originally, was to create a story mix, not necessarily a themed mix (in which it's one specific genre). I liked that idea after hearing mixes from the likes of Sasha, Nick Warren, and Jody Westendorff, which took on a similar mixing methodology.

Anyways, as I revisited the mix this year, I took some tracks out, added some in, and increased its overall the length. The idea then hit me: why not continue to grow this mix?

"The Journey" / The Art of DJing is essentially the answer. Going beyond the standard CD length of 80 minutes, this mix will be a continuation over time. Right now, 18 tracks have been mixed, however, I've already started adding additional tracks in what will be "additional" revisions (with some very good deep house/fun eletronica tracks by the way).

The end result, I hope, is a 5 hour long mix. Who knows what I'll throw in there, but I'm hoping to cover more genres. I don't think it'll be looked on favorably as people tend to enjoy 1-2 genres in the EDM spectrum. None the less, unlike my other mixes, this one is for me.

p.s. With my return, I plan on pushing out other mixes too.

I hope you enjoy it!

Vibrations 2010 (May) - Vol. 12

Welcome to May's edition of Vibrations. It's been a few months since the January mix and I wanted to update my friends some great new trance tracks. While some of these have broken the mainstream horizon, many of these chill trance tracks are hidden gems equating into a nice chill/summer mix.

The inspiration behind this volume stemmed from vibrations vol. 7-9...they had a chill yet respectable trance sound. These sound elements are ones I enjoy the best. While sounding amazing, they stray the course of mainstream trance, leaving an impression and enjoyable taste you keep coming back to time and time again.

The ending tracks spell out my favorite moments in this mix. The subtleness never leaves you wanting more; it satiates the soul.

Track listing:

01. Anatolly Frolov - Beautiful Sunrise
02. Chris Reece - Still Breathing
03. Paul Tarrant - Sunset Serenade (JPL Remix)
04. Matt Zo - The Lost
05. Sasha Virus - 2gether We ARe feat. Dilara
06. Alex MORPH - Photograph feat. Roberta Harri
07. Shogun - Nadia feat. Hannah Ray (Extended Mix)
08. Marco V - Coming Back feat. Jonathan Men
09. Gabriel Lukosz - All The Usual Things (Tucande Remix)
10. Oxide - For You feat. Aelyn (Eximinds Remix)
11. Michael Witness - Tranquility (Soarsweep Remix)

New Blogsite?

So, I've thinking of teaming up with 3 DJs, to form a blog called "Groovernment". Essentially what it will be is a 3 month cycle of mixes:

1. Trance (Dj Polaski) - Vibrations
2. Tech-House/Progressive (Habitual Motion) - Tronic Sessions
3. Breakbeat (Dj Laesch) - Sound Synthetics
(Bonus) Additional chillout (MDB?)

What do you guys think?

Welcome Back: Vibrations 2010 (January)

Well well well...Here I am again. 2010 has kicked us off with some awesome tracks feature some awesome artists.

The mix settles well for both the more aggressive-style trance listeners, but half way through it appeals to the progressive as well. Finally, the last two tracks a bit of a techy sound, but never lose sight of the trance experience. The last track by Tiesto is one of my all time favs. Mixing is top notch, just for you.

Oh, by the way, why did I add the months to the mix name now? o.O I dont know....

Tracklist:

1. Sunny Lax - Misgrey
2. Andy Duguid - Deja Voodoo
3. Ton TB - Calculating Darkness (Club Mix)
4. Tritonal - Kiss Me Here feat. Christina Soto
5. Firewall (Lange) - Wanderlust
6. Dj Eco - And We Flew Away
7. BT - Every Other Way (Armin Van Buuren)

EP Album on Kahvi: Bendii Syndrome

I really felt like my last post didn't do justice for the kind of enthusiasm I wanted to display for my EP released on Kahvi. For you Kahvi fans, I released a 4-Track Kahvi EP that really had some positive feedback from the loyal customers there. Those responses really encouraged me to continue looking into music production.

With that said, I've currently working on another 4-track EP that will be released on Kahvi's EP timetable.

Back to the album! I really felt Bendii Syndrom hit a well scored note (no pun intended) to Kahvi listeners as much of the releases were bionic bunny style weird-hypnotic tracks. I do go for those kinds of tracks, but I really think for that kind of arena, people want subtly, simplicity, and emotional components attached to their music. I think those elements, when blended, produce an effect that makes you feel good.

I don't always think about these things, and to quantify music in such ways should be blasphemous in most cases. None the less, the tracks I created hit a chord with me, I hope they do with you as well. Much of the inspiration from the tracks came from trancey chillout, workbench (Kahvi releases) and Boards of Canada.

Loss of Grandios is by far (in my opinion) the best track of the EP. While repetitive, it follows the style of Boards of Canada but also has its own style of communicating its intent.

Snooping for berries is a fun and intrinsic style that makes me think of some dog, snooping around the garden for a quick treat. Don't ask me why, but thats just the illusion that I get when I listen to this.

Last Goodbyes are one of those Squaresoft-cum-Chronotrigger-cum-FinalFantasy tracks that just kind of sit with you when you've listened to it enough. Piano and pad swells make this track a swirling pool of emotion.

Starstruck is exactly what the name implies, BOOM. The start up is slow and somewhat unimpressive. But mid-point through the track, sounds begin to fill your speakers and the result is a conglomerate of chorded violence with a sense of subtlety (yes I can use that word twice).

1. Last Goodbyes
2. Loss of Grandios
3. Snooping For Berries
4. Starstruck

---------------------------------------------------

As for timely releases of my Mixes, I really do have apologize. I always end up with the shorter end of the stick when it comes to a commitment with you guys. Money definitely is not the issue but rather the time associated with making mixes. With a full-time job now (System's analyst) and a full-time student, things often get lost in the mix of it all (once again, no pun intended). I'm currently looking at purchasing tracks for another vibrations mix coming up soon. So stay tuned.
